Location of registration number ("MC number") on a Michigan Watercraft registration
REGISTRATION NUMBER COLORS look best when they complement the boat.
For example: this boat is black, gray, and silver. Gray numbers with a silver outline create a perfect "installed at the factory" look.

- Boat must be clean and dry.

- Ideal air temperature: 60-90 F.
- Avoid windy situations.
- Avoid direct sunlight if hull is hot to touch.
- Do not remove backing yet.
- Tape top edge of numbers to hull.
- Tape will act as a hinge during application process.
- Place the 3 separate pieces edge-to-edge.
- See PHOTOS above for typical placement.
- Check for consistent placement on each side.
- Allow room for state registration sticker.
- Work 1 section at a time.
- Lift bottom edge up and away from hull.
- Remove backing to expose adhesive.
- Start from top. Slowly lower section toward hull.
- Apply light initial pressure with squeegee.
- Once fully seated, go over again with firm pressure.
- Complete all sections before moving to next step.
- Gently remove top tape from each section.
- Be careful not to pull vinyl up with the transfer tape.
- It’s best to pull transfer tape along hull - not straight out from it.
- Work slowly!
- Follow the instructions provided with your state registration regarding placement.
- a few small bubbles are normal right after installation – they will dissipate with sunlight and time.
- Full adhesion can take up to 2 weeks, depending on heat and weather.
- Be careful around the numbers when washing or waxing.
- Avoid power washer, power buffer, and harsh chemicals.
